Comprehensive and diverse services include recreation, athletic, social, art, special event, park and facility operations/maintenance, open space acquisition, urban forestry management and other services.
Services are provided to preschool age children, youth, teen, adult, family and senior populations through partnerships with community agencies, businesses and institutions.

2007 Ballfield Analysis The Parks and Recreation department recently completed a Ballfield Analysis for the various sports fields on the Island. The study was used to take inventory of our field system and as a guide toward future policies and possible park improvements. An Agenda Bill was presented to City Council on October 1, 2007 which included the analysis summary, various sport field maps, cost estimates for field upgrades, and the ‘next steps’ of this project.
